13th Annual
Osseo Heritage Day
and
Great Mushroom Hunt
Early in May, in the woods near one of the smallest communities in Hillsdale County, the great hunt commences. Rich in American
Indian and pioneer heritage, a spirited community invites you to share in the hunt for the elusive morel. Scout for morels in
Lost Nations State Wildlife area,
formerly a hideout for the notorius counterfieter and horse thief,
Sile Doty. The day is filled with family activities, tasty food, and displays of interest and history pertaining to the area named
for one of Longfellow's
legendary Indians,
Osseo,
Son of the
Evening Star.
