and History

The organizers of our festival, Dennis and Barbie Keiser, began the mushroom contest as just a fun thing to do
one spring in 1996. Little did they know that their efforts would balloon into one of the best loved, annual festivals
in Hillsdale County, drawing morel lovers from as far
away as Pennsylvania! The festival has grown so much
that they decided to create a non-profit organization, the
Osseo Heritage Society, to maintain the needs that the festival now requires. The Osseo Heritage Society has
nine board member positions with unlimited membership. Membership dues to the Osseo Heritage Society are
$10.00 annually. Member benefits include the annual
picnic in October, the opportunity to support a fun, family day in Osseo and the priviledge to make suggestions regarding the festival activities and programs.
